Eid & Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration (30/8/2011)

Festivals are a part of our lives. They beautify our life. They are just not meant for fun but they also teach us something as every festival brings its own message or purpose.
We, at Orchids also celebrate festivals to inculcate the spirit of celebrating festivals among our pre-primary students. We teach them their importance too. Our motto towards celebrating festivals is to mould our students into secular citizens.
With these goals, we celebrated Eid and Ganesh Chaturthi in our school. As a part of Eid’s celebration we prepared sheer khurma. We preached them the importance of prayers, namaz and giving alms. As a part of Ganesh Chaturthi’s celebration, one of the students was made to dress up like lord Vinayaka. We taught the importance of Ganesh and his favourite food too. The atmosphere was very festive and colourful because of these celebrations. It is needless to say that our children enjoyed a lot.

One Minute Game (26/8/2011)

Having fun and entertainment is an integral part of Orchids. We lighten the atmosphere to laugh also as we firmly believe “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. Each and every minute is important in our lives. How best we can use this given one minute matters a lot. Collecting the balls, threading beads, joining the blocks were the one – minute games conducted for our pre-primary students on 26/8/2011. Our students enjoyed a lot. They will cherish each and every moment spent for a long time. This will definitely remain as a memorable experience.

Fruit Week (19/8/2011)

It is the tradition of Orchids to concentrate on child-centered learning and teaching through activities. Keeping up the trend, we celebrated 'Fruits week' this week. The teachers kept on talking about fruits through out the week. This was to teach and reinforce the concept of fruits and their importance among the students.
Towards the end of the week all the students were advised to bring different kinds of fruits to the class and displayed them in the class. Making use of the fruits brought, fruit salad was prepared in the class.
Through this activity the students were taught different concepts like the importance of fruits, sharing, preparation of salad and an awareness of hygiene during the preparation.

Field Trip - Nursery { 5/8/2011}

It is the culture of Orchids to bring the students close to experience whatever we teach. As a part of this, our pre-primary students were taken to a near by nursery. This was to make them conscious about the environment around us especially about greenery. We showed them different types of plants. This was quite refreshing. Students enjoyed a lot. They will definitely cherish this fieldtrip for a long time. We taught them the importance of greenery and the necessity to grow plants. Plants are the breath of life.
