Hindi Diwas Celebration (14/9/2011)

‘Hamko manke sakthi dena’- Hindi Diwas at Orchids-The International School began with the Prayer song, on 14.9.11. The special morning assembly was organized by the Department of Hindi under the guidance of Mrs. S. Kamala Srinivas, Head of the Department.  All the students studying Hindi as the second language participated in the celebration of the language day with gusto and gaiety. The dance to Vandemataram song, which completed 100 years on the 7th Sept.2011, instilled patriotic fervour in the audience. The power-point presentation by the students of Hindi was very enlightening with a lot of information of Hindi, the National language, originated from Sanskrit and the way it diverged into five main dialects- Purvi, Paschimi, Rajasthani, Pahadi, Bihari and also Dakshini joining the line. The skit performed by the 6th class students depicted ‘Anekta me Ekta’ as its theme. The special assembly in Hindi made it a special day in Orchids.

TALK SHOW COMPETITION (9/9/2011)

A language consists of four skills. They are LSRW – listening, speaking, reading and writing. Among these listening is considered an important receptive skill and precedes the skill of speaking which is considered an important productive skill. We try to see that every student of our school learns to speak fluently, confidently and spontaneously. We provide ample number of opportunities for our students to express themselves freely.
Self expression is one of the ends of our education. To achieve this we conducted a competition called ‘Talk Show’ for our pre-primary students on 09/09/11. In this show each student spoke about food item using props. Students were truly immersed in this activity.

Winners:
P.Aakash - I
Ruchir Rajanala - II

Fried Trip to Supermarket 2/9/2011

A famous proverb goes this way,
“I hear, I forget ,
  I see, I remember,
  I do, I understand”
Going by this proverb, we try to concentrate on providing practical and concrete experience to students. As apart of this, our pre-primary students were taken to supermarket on 02.09.11. Supermarket is a place where you find many products and commodities. Things of more than ten shops are found in one shop. We showed our students fruits and vegetables and food items like junk food, processed food, fresh food etc. We showed them how the things are arranged in a supermarket. They learnt observation skill. Students enjoyed a lot.
